Eui Am
In 1965, Ge Baek was followed by Yoo Sin, and Eui Am did not exist. It is one of the latest additions to the Chang Hon series.
Eui Am is very un-Karate in a few ways. It contains very little that is seen in Karate kata, and the way it is structured is unique. Like Ge Baek, Eui Am also moves along the North/South line and contains some 180 degree turns. Unlike Ge Baek, however, Eui Am never even faces to the side. In all of my research, this strict facing of only North and South is something that I have never seen in Karate. Eui Am also contains some advanced kicks unheard of in Karate kata. You can read more of my thoughts on late Chang Hon patterns' relationship to Karate kata as well as the role of kicking elsewhere.
The only similarities I have seen in Eui Am are both found elsewhere: Movement 7 (and 20), the "high side backfist" in X stance is the opening of Passai seen all over (and even closer to the original in Ul Ji), and Passai's pulling kick also found in Hwa Rang. Eui Am does contain techniques seen in various patterns, but I don't consider a handful of unconnected individual techniques to be significant.
I have nothing else to say about Eui Am for now.
