Yon Gae

Patterns higher than Choi Yong are patterns I have not yet properly learned, and therefore ars harder for me to comment on. That being said, it follows the trend of later patterns having more kicking techniques and generally fewer Karate kata sequences.

Yon Gae contains the flying knife hand strike, which his students have told me was one of General Choi's personal favorite techniques. It is certainly foreign to Karate, as are Yon Gae's kicking combinations. While Yon Gae seems to have a few techniques in common with Karate kata, the sequences are minor, unremarkable, and have already been used in previous patterns.

I may certainly be overlooking something, but this is still in progress.
